Less Weight, More Power: Limited-Edition R8 GT
Decrease the weight, and increase the power. It’s the same notion that has made such supercars as the Ferrari 430 Scuderia and Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera better performers than their progenitors. And now Audi’s applied the same formula to its R8.
To make the R8 GT, Audi has fitted thinner glass (replacing that giant rear window over the engine bay with a plastic one) and replaced many of the aluminum body panels with carbon fiber, shedding 220 lbs off the curb weight. Meanwhile, the German automaker has increased output from the 5.2-liter V10 from 525 horsepower to 560. Mated to the R-Tronic semi-automatic transmission, the R8 GT runs from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.6 seconds and tops out just shy of 200 miles per hour.
Audi will only make 333 examples of the R8 GT, selling for €193,000 ($256,000) apiece.

Armani Hotel Opens in Dubai
WOW! Dubai is always doing it big ! Dubai has to be a trip a plan asap!
It took a little longer than expected but the first Armani Hotel has opened in the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai. The hotel is the first landmark tenant in the building. The 160-room hotel marks the Italian designer’s first foray into the hotel business.
Every bit of the hotel’s design was overseen by Armani and is a consistent vision of his neutral, minimalist luxe style. The staff wear Armani suits and dresses. The hotel is designed to be exclusive and only those who have room or restaurant reservations can gain access to the area of the Burj Khalifa that houses the hotel. Your stay comes with the sevices of a “lifestyle consultant,” a personal concierge who sees to all your needs. Such fine digs will cost you. Rates start at $750 and night and a suite can run you $2,500 although opening specials in the fast rising heat of late spring will net you a studio for $550 and an Armani Signature Suite for $2,200. Restaurants include Armani/Amal, offering Indian food with modern presentation, Armani/Hashi for sushi and Japanese plates, and Armani/Peck, an Italian style deli. Click through after the jump for a look at the Armani hotel, a space that seems very true to the look of Armani’s existing boutiques and restaurant offerings.
Sleekly attired hotel workers see to your every need.

Sleep Underwater in the Maldives
The world’s first undersea restaurant opened 5 years ago this month at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa Rangali Island, and to celebrate the anniversary the restaurant is offering guests the chance to not only eat under the sea but sleep under it as well. The 12-seat restaurant will be converted to a private bedroom suite for two, complete with private champagne dinner and breakfast in bed.
Ithaa sits five meters below the surface of the Indian Ocean, encased in plexiglass and reached by descending a spiral staircase. The restaurant offers breathtaking views and ‘fusion Maldivian cuisine’ (local cooking with a western twist), and rumor has it that over lunch the place is so bright that guests and staff have to wear sunglasses (they even keep spares on hand and offer a sunglasses cleaning service). Sounds wonderful, although I imagine seeing the sun rise while eating breakfast in bed is even better.

Nike Air Attack Display @ Niketown New York
To highlight the importance of “air”, Nike conceived an intriguing retail display at it Niketown location in New York. In part to merchandising the limited Air Attack Pack, another to exhibit the unparalleled quality of air, the display pervaded from the expansive store window facing 57th Street, where each models from the collection rested on an authentic air tank for SCUBA diving. Onward to a specific sale floor devoted to Air Attack Collection, with a lighted glass display wall acts as the centerpiece. At a slight curve, the backlight of the case, each again with model from the Air Attack Pack, spelled out the word “air”, in bold form. To see the display for yourself or to purchase an item from the Air Attack Pack, simply visit Niketown in New York.
